Japan retail sales down 7.1% in October YoY

Japan's retail sales decreased by 7.1% in October on an annual basis, substantially higher than expected by analysts, the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry said on Thursday. On a monthly, seasonally adjusted basis, retail sales figures dropped 14.4%.

Minerals and metals recorded the most substantial drop, 19.3% year-over-year, while the lowest of 4.9% was observed in electrical machinery and equipment.

None of the sectors recorded an increase.
