US closes lower on high inflation concerns

Wall Street stock markets closed lower on Tuesday after turning to losses in intraday trading. Investors have been closely monitoring inflation data and reacted to the recent report of an increase to 5.3%, despite the figure being lower than anticipated.

Meanwhile, Apple shares dropped following its fall product event, where the company unveiled a new iPhone 13 line-up, including Mini, Pro and Pro Max versions. The tech giant also introduced upgraded iPads and the Apple Watch series.

The Dow Jones plunged by 0.84% as Walgreens decreased by 1.95%, while the S&P 500 lost 0.57% with Wynn Resorts plummeting by 10.85%. The Nasdaq 100 slid by 0.33% led by Comcast falling by 7.30%. The euro remained flat against the dollar exchanging hand for $1.18050 at 4:03 pm ET.
