EIA: US crude inventories drop by 4.1 million barrels

Crude oil stockpiles in the United States decreased by 4.1million to 435.6 million barrels in the week ending July 23, the US Energy Information Administration said in its weekly report released on Wednesday.

Crude oil imports averaged 6.5 million barrels per day last week, down by 600,000 barrels compared to the previous week. Gasoline production averaged 9.8 million barrels per day, according to the report.

Crude oil refinery inputs averaged 15.9 million barrels per day during the same week, 132,000 barrels per day less than the previous week’s average. Finally, the EIA said that refineries operated at 91.1% of their operable capacity in the same period.
