Europe mostly lower in premarket ahead of data

Equities in Europe traded mostly lower in the premarket on Friday ahead of the release of preliminary reports on manufacturing and services in January from Germany, the European Union, and the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, the leaders of the EU countries decided to keep state borders open but strongly discourage all non-essential travel due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. They also agreed on accelerating vaccinations against COVID-19.

The DAX fell by 0.06% at 7:31 am CET. At the same time, the FTSE 100 stood flat, while the CAC 40 dropped by 0.17%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar, changing hands for $1.21668 at 7:29 am CET. A minute later, the pound sterling lost 0.29% to the greenback to sell for $1.36972.
