The United Kingdom Department of Health is in negotiations with the Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche to buy millions of coronavirus antibody test kits, Telegraph reported on Wednesday.

The move comes after the test, which determines if a person has ever been infected with the coronavirus and if they developed antibodies against it, has been approved by Public Health England (PHE). According to the report, Roche said it was ready to provide hundreds of thousands of tests to the UK health authorities each week.

Earlier in the month, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also approved Roche's serology test, confirming with 99.8% reliability if a person has been exposed to the virus and has developed antibodies.
