Daimler AG and BMW AG stated on Tuesday they expect to lower gas emissions by 20% on average in 2020 with the sale of new electric models presented on their live-streams today.

The German carmakers are seeking to further cut carbon dioxide emissions on the European Union's demand, with the bloc taking actions and setting up measures to prevent climate change.

The companies held a live-streamed event due to this year's Geneva motor show being canceled as the coronavirus accelerated spreading across the European continent. BMW's CEO Oliver Zipse asserted the company won't face any major problems regarding the supply chains due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
