Swiss yearly inflation 0.8% under zero in February

The Consumer Price Index in Switzerland advanced 0.2% last month from January to 99.8 points. The reading was 0.8% lower than in the same month of the previous year, the Federal Statistical Office said on Tuesday. A separate report earlier revealed the jobless rate edged 0.1 percentage point lower last month, to 3.7%, however the registered number of the unemployed rose 7.7% from February of last year.

The franc retreated 0.21% against the euro, rose 0.35% compared to the dollar and added 0.47% versus the pound (all 9:22 a..m. CET). The Swiss SMI stock index fell 0.81% at 9:08 a.m. CET. Transocean, Swiss re and CS group took the biggest losses.
