Asian markets trade mixed amid earnings

Asian markets traded mixed on Tuesday as investors keep watch over corporate earnings. Social media stocks are in the spotlight this week as Twitter and Snap are set to report results later in the day, while Facebook will post earnings on Wednesday.

The Nikkei 225 was flat at 7:34 am CET, while the dollar was down by 0.03% against the yen to go for 111.907 at 7:49 am CET.

Last week, China said its economy expanded by 6.4% in the first quarter of 2019. Several days later, the Communist Party's top decision-making body vowed to maintain policy support for the economy as it still faces "downward pressure." The Shanghai Composite was up 0.29% at 7:51 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite fell 0.12% at the same time. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng decreased by 0.18% at 7:51 am CET.

The South Korean Kospi rose 0.08% at 7:31 am CET, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 climbed 0.98% at the end of the session.
