Asian markets trade mixed at start of earnings season

Stock markets in Asia traded mixed on Tuesday at the start of the earnings season. Huawei reported a 39% rise in revenue for its first fiscal quarter. Meanwhile, oil traded higher after the White House confirmed Washington will stop granting sanctions waivers for Iranian oil imports. North Korean state media wrote that the country's leader Kim Jong-un will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin soon.

Japan's Nikkei 225 lost 0.38% at 4:28 am CET. The South Korean Kospi Composite was up just 0.06% at 4:08 am CET.

The Shanghai Composite dropped 0.19% at 4:27 am CET while the Shenzhen Composite traded 0.59% lower at 4:29 am CET. Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 0.53% at 4:29 am CET.

The Australian S&P/ASX 200 added 0.84% at 4:30 am CET.

The dollar fell 0.14% against the yen and sold for ¥111.7805 at 4:31 am CET.
