Markets in Europe ended the session in the green on Monday despite worse-than-expected economic data. The FTSE 100 rose 0.30%. Sainsbury pushed the index higher as its shares soared 15.37% on reports the supermarket chain could receive a takeover bid from a private equity firm.

The DAX gained 0.28% with Delivery Hero, up 1.99%, leading the gains.

The CAC 40 jumped 1.08%. The best performer was Hermes whose shares rallied 3%.

The euro added 0.27% against the dollar to sell for 1.17319 at 5:56 pm CET and the pound climbed 0.67% compared to the greenback to go for 1.37160 at the same time.
