Dow drops more than 300 pts amid COVID worries

Shares on major stock market indexes in the United States extended losses on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunging more than 300 points as the traders' hopes for the economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis were trumped by the news of possible delays of Pfizer's jab.

On the data front, the University of Michigan unveiled in its survey that consumer confidence in the US took a turn for the worse in January.

The Dow Jones plummeted 0.91% or 281 points at 10:33 am ET, while the Nasdaq 100 dropped 0.54% at the same time. A minute later, the S&P 500 tumbled 0.86%. The euro dove 0.60% versus the dollar, selling for 1.20908 at 10:36 am ET.
