US shares open mostly flat amid political uncertainty

United States stocks opened mostly flat on Wednesday as the investors are monitoring the political situation in the US. Vice President Mike Pence said previously that he doesn't intend to remove US President Donald Trump from office. However, the US House of Representatives later passed a resolution urging Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment of the US Constitution in order to remove Trump. On the data front, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all items in the United States rose 1.4% on an annual basis in December. Also, Federal Reserve will release its Beige Book later in the day.

The Dow Jones opened flat at 9:30 am ET as the Walt Disney Co went down by 0.68%. The S&P 500 stood flat as well. General Motors Co increased by 4.39%. The Nasdaq 100 rose by 0.21% at 9:30 am ET with Intel Corp jumping 12.02% a minute later.

The euro fell by 0.40% against the dollar and went for 1.21572 at 9:29 am ET.
