US industrial production down 0.3% in December

Industrial production in the United States decreased by 0.3% in December compared to November, missing the estimates that saw it sliding 0.2% month-over-month, the Federal Reserve announced in a report on Friday. On an annual basis, industrial production dropped by 1% in December.

Meanwhile, manufacturing output gained 0.2% compared to November, but it lost 1.3% year-over-year in December.

Capacity utilization for the industrial sector slipped 0.4% monthly to 77% in December while mining went 1.3% up compared to the previous month.
