Precious metals gain with Brexit, trade in focus

Precious metals traded with gains on Monday as uncertainties surrounding Brexit and the United States-China trade war continue to remain in focus, as well as fears of a global economic slowdown.

In Britain, Prime Minister Boris Johnson is racing against the clock to gather support for his Brexit deal as MPs delayed a vote on the agreement over the weekend. Johnson will push for a new meaningful vote today.

Meanwhile, Washington and Beijing's phase one trade agreement are working toward signing the deal at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in November.

Gold gained 0.11% to 1,492.11 per ounce at 9:06 am CET, while silver jumped 0.93% to 17.71 per ounce. At the same time, platinum climbed 0.46% to 894.33 per ounce as sister metal palladium rose 0.98% to 1,773.14 per ounce.
