Austrian prosecution found no crime in Strache video - report

Austrian Supreme Prosecutor's Office found no evidence suggesting a crime was committed by now former Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache while evaluating the scandalous video, local media reported on Sunday.

"Specific evidence of the existence of a crime does not follow from this [video]," the prosecution's statement reportedly said. However, the Central Prosecutor's Office is unable to evaluate the full video recording that lasts for several hours since German media refuses to hand it over, citing the protection of editorial secrets.

On Saturday, the vice chancellor had to hand in his resignation following a controversy regarding a leaked video, allegedly recorded in 2017.
