German Chancellor Angela Merkel is planning on reshuffling its cabinet in order to strengthen her political position, finalizing her fourth term as Germany's government leader, the Bild on Sonntag reported on Sunday, citing party sources close to the matter.

According to the article, Merkel is hoping on increasing her ratings with the government reshuffle as it is speculated that she will replace Minister of the Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier with current Health Minister Jens Spahn. Meanwhile, Minister of Education Anja Karliczek's position is reportedly also put into question.

On Thursday, Merkel said she does not intend to seek any political post after her current term expires in 2021. Last year, the chancellor stepped down as the leader of her party, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), and announced she will not be seeking reelection as the country's chancellor after her current term is over.
