European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders (pictured) urged on Friday eleven tech companies in liaison with the European Union's Consumer Protection Cooperation Network to collaborate and prevent the spread of scams related to coronavirus on their platforms.

Reynders said he encouraged the firms – Allegro, Amazon, Alibaba/AliExpress, CDiscount, eBay, Facebook, Google, Microsoft/Bing, Rakuten, Verizon Media/Yahoo, and Wish – to "join forces [...] to further strengthen their response [...] during the second wave currently hitting Europe."

The commission noted that all those companies had reported "the removal of hundreds of millions of illegal offers and advertisements and confirmed a steady decline in new coronavirus-related listings."
