The United Kingdom Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced on Tuesday that it approved Inc's deal with food delivery firm Deliveroo following an in-depth investigation.

"The CMA’s final decision to clear the deal on competition grounds is the culmination of extensive analysis of internal documents from Amazon and Deliveroo, a survey of more than 3,000 consumers, and extensive submissions from interested third parties," the CMA stated. and noted it concluded that the e-commerce giant's 16% investment in Deliveroo will "not substantially lessen competition in either market."

However, the watchdog warned that it intends to launch a further investigation if Amazon decides to increase its investment and acquire a controlling interest in the food delivery company.
