Wall Street opens in red on lower earnings fears

Major stock markets in the United States opened lower on Tuesday as investors are worried that big companies could report a heavy decrease in their earnings report. Also, on the pandemic front, US National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci said that it is not likely that the effectiveness of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine candidate can be seen before November.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded 0.30% lower at the opening bell as 3M Co. tumbled by 4.21%. The Nasdaq 100 fell by 0.23% with Tesla sliding by 2.31%. The S&P 500 went down by 0.10%. KLA Corp was the worst performer with a 1.12% fall.

The euro fell by 0.16% against the dollar to sell for $1.17338 at 9:31 am ET.
