US opens mostly higher on better than expected jobless claims

Major stock markets in the United States opened higher on Thursday after it was reported that the number of initial jobless claims for the week ending July 4 fell by 99,000. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump stated that the number of coronavirus infections nationwide rose only because of the country's "much bigger and better" testing compared to other countries.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average stood flat at the opening bell's sound. Microsoft Corp. was the best performer growing by 0.99%. The Nasdaq 100 rose by 0.72% to a new record high with NetEase growing by 9.50%. The S&P 500 went up by 0.22% with Carnival Corp hopping by 4.05%.

The euro increased by 0.06% against the dollar, with the exchange rate of 1.13362 at 9:32 am ET.
