Alphabet's self-driving company Waymo and the Volvo Cars Group agreed on strategic partnership, Waymo announced in a blog on Thursday.

Through the strategic partnership, the two companies will work together to develop a self-driving electric vehicle designed for ride-hailing services. Waymo will work on artificial intelligence for the software "driver," while Volvo will design and manufacture the vehicles.

The partnership will concern Volvo’s global brands, including Polestar and Lynk & Co.
