Google seeks alternatives to Hong Kong for PLCN

Google LLC is looking at different locations for its Pacific Light Cable Network (PLCN) after it was warned by the United States to exclude Hong Kong due to security concerns.

Thomas Kurian, chief executive of the tech giant's cloud division, said "when [the company] looks at a primary location, it's always wise to have a second one in mind."

Washington's main concern is that the 13,000-kilometer submarine cable system could give China to access the data going through it.
