Report: Liberty Global, Telefonica agree on £24B merger

Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica SA and Liberty Global have reached an agreement to merge O2 and Virgin Media in a deal worth £24 billion, the Financial Times reported citing sources familiar with the plans.

Following months of negotiations, the two companies are set to announce the final deal later on Thursday.

According to the report, both companies will have equal ownership of O2 and Virgin Media under the terms of the new agreement.
