Dow jumps 200 points on easing US-Iran tensions

Stocks in the United States extended gains on Thursday with the Dow Jones Industrial Averaging soaring over 200 points as fears of an armed conflict between Iran and the US subsided. US President Donald Trump eased concerns after Iran's attacks on US bases by saying Washington is "ready to embrace peace," while Iran noted its revenge against the US for killing General Qassem Soleimani is complete.

The Dow Jones rallied 0.70% or 201 points at 11:33 am ET. The best performer was Apple, which rose 2.17% at 11:43 am ET.

The Nasdaq 100 jumped 0.80% at 11:34 am ET with BioMarin Pharmaceutical, up 4.89%, leading the gains.

The S&P 500 rose 0.58% at 11:35 am ET.

The euro was down 0.09% against the dollar to go for 1.11020 at 11:39 am ET.
