The Bank of Japan (BoJ) announced on Thursday that its Policy Board decided by a 7-2 majority vote to keep the short-term interest rate unchanged at -0.1% and guiding long-term interest rates to around zero.

BoJ added it will purchase ETFs and Japan real estate investment trusts to raise their amounts outstanding by around 6 trillion yen and 90 billion yen, respectively, annually.

The central bank noted that some slowdowns are being observed in overseas economies and that private consumption remains moderate which will lead to moderate expansion in Japan.
