Vestager: Google's e-commerce proposal not good enough

European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager said on Thursday in Lison that Google's suggestions on how to help competition among e-commerce comparison sites aren't sufficient.

Speaking at the Web Summit, Vestager said: "We may see a show of rivals in the shopping box. We may see a pickup when it comes to clicks for merchants. But we still do not see much traffic for viable competitors when it comes to shopping comparison."

The European Union fined Google €2.4 billion for boosting its own comparison service. Earlier, the US tech giant was fined €1.5 billion in the EU for blocking ad competitors and other €5 billion in an Android antitrust case.
