Asia mostly gains ahead of BoJ, after data

East Asian stock markets mostly posted gains on Thursday, after the release of PMI data for China and industrial production figures from Japan. The Chinese manufacturing sector contracted for the sixth consecutive month, while Japan sa industrial output rise both on annual and monthly terms.

Meanwhile, Samsung reported lower revenue and profits in the third quarter. Investors were awaiting interest rate decision announcement by the Bank of Japan.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 increased 0.19% at 3:30 am CET. Kospi Composite in Seoul jumped 1.01% at 4:16 am CET.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 1.22% at 4:17 am CET. The Shanghai Composite was flat as the Shenzhen Composite climbed 0.18% at 4:17 am CET.

The S&P/ASX 200 was down 0.51% at 4:18 am CET.

The dollar contracted 0.13% against the yen at 4:19 am CET to trade for ¥108.7030.
