Report: Zelensky spoke of US pressure before call

Volodymyr Zelensky and his advisers discussed on May 7 "how to navigate" demands from United States President Donald Trump and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani to investigate the business dealings of Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden in the Eastern European country, AP learned from anonymous sources. The people with knowledge of the details from the meeting said the group was looking for ways to stay out of the US election process. The article published on Wednesday notes it was held before the new leader took office and over two months before the conversation with Trump that prompted an impeachment inquiry.

The US president has denied numerous times that he pressured Zelensky, and so did Ukraine's current head of state.

An earlier insider report also indicated Ukrainian officials knew that an aid package was being held up by the administration in Washington and that they were directed to speak to Mick Mulvaney, the White House acting chief of staff.
