Google LLC on Monday presented its new debit card payments function in Brazil. Google Pay users will be able to use debit cards from local banks Itau Unibanco Holding SA, Banco Bradesco SA and its largest bank by assets Banco do Brasil SA. Partners are Visa, Mastercard, and local card issuer Elo.

This is a precedent since very few online retailers in Brazil accept debit cards and since Brazil has 60 million debit card owners recorded, in this way Google intends to spread its user network and increase the usage of Android smartphones in the country, said Joao Felix, who is in charge of Google Pay on Latin America territory.
