Asian markets mostly flat ahead of G20 summit

Asian markets traded mostly flat on Monday as investors await the upcoming G20 summit in Osaka and the trade talks between United States President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The meeting on the sidelines of the gathering in Japan is expected to ease the tensions between the world's two largest economies. Earlier, media reported that the US was mulling banning all 5G equipment made in China.

China's Shanghai Composite was flat at 4:15 am CET, trading just 0.09% lower. At the same time, the Shenzhen Composite went down by 0.07%.

The South Korean Kospi Composite gained 0.15% at 3:57 am CET.

The Japanese Nikkei 225 was down 0.07% at 4:18 am CET. The dollar traded flat against the yen to go for 107.3850 at 4:18 am CET.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng traded 0.17% higher at 4:18 am CET, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 went down by 0.20%.
