Asian markets rise ahead of US-China trade talks

Asian markets recorded gains on Wednesday as United States President Donald Trump announced a new round of trade talks with China will start later in the day. Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to keep trying to resolve the issues which have led to the current negotiations standstill. Meanwhile, investors will also be looking forward to the US Federal Reserve interest rate decision coming up on Wednesday.

Japanese Nikkei 225 gained 0.90% at 4:21 am CET. South Korean Kospi Composite traded 1.01% higher at 4:02 am CET.

China's Shanghai Composite jumped 1.45% at 4:22 am CET. Shenzhen Composite climbed by 2.50% at the same time. Hong Kong's Hang Seng soared 3.37% at 4:24 am CET.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 went up 1.04% at 4:24 am CET.

The dollar traded 0.05% higher against the yen, to go for 108.5075 at 4:25 am CET.
