Asian markets mixed ahead of Fed's policy meeting

Asian markets traded mixed on Tuesday ahead of the United States Federal Reserve two-day monetary policy meeting. The US regulators will assess the state of the economy and reach the decision on the interest rate during the next two days, as a number of US-based companies urged the White House not to impose further tariffs on Chinese imports. In the meantime, US President Donald Trump downplayed the importance of recent Gulf of Oman oil tanker attacks, which has ramped up the geopolitical tensions during the past week.

Japanese Nikkei 225 traded 0.91% lower at 8:00 am CET, as the greenback traded 0.24% lower against the yen, going for 108.2775 at 8:01 am CET.

China's Shanghai Composite was down 0.18% at 8:02 am CET, as the Shenzhen Composite went down by 0.15% at the same time. Hong Kong's Hang Seng traded 0.30% higher at 8:02 am CET.

South Korean Kospi Composite jumped 0.36% at 8:04 am CET.
