Pound continues to fall as cross-party talks collapse

The British pound continued to slide on Friday after the cross-party Brexit negotiations officially collapsed earlier in the day. In a letter to Prime Minister Theresa May, Opposition Leader Jeremy Corbyn said that the talks should be suspended due to the "weakness and instability" of the government. Meanwhile, reports emerged that hardline Conservative lawmakers are pushing May to step down immediately, claiming that her withdrawal agreement stands no chance in the House of Commons.

Sterling dropped 0.56% against the dollar, to sell for 1.2725 at 9:14 pm CET. The euro was 0.45% higher compared to the pound, going for 0.8771 at the same time. The pound fell 0.42% against the yen, changing hands for 139.934 at 9:05 pm CET.
