The British pound declined further early on Friday as concerns about the United Kingdom's economy persisted amid a leadership crisis at the head of the government. Former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson revealed he plans to run for the position of party leader following May's departure.

The pound traded 0.10% lower at 3:02 am CET compared to the dollar and sold for $1.27864 after reaching the lowest point since February 14. The euro gained 0.10% compared to the British currency and went for £0.87408.
