European stocks seen lower ahead of Fed decision

Markets in Europe are expected to open with losses as investors await the United States Federal Reserve monetary policy decision due later in the day.

The DAX futures indicated a decrease of 0.23%, the FTSE 100 was set to open 0.17% in the red, the CAC 40 futures showed a fall of 0.27% and the Euro Stoxx 50 was seen 0.28% lower.

Precious metals traded in positive territory as the dollar weakened ahead of the Fed announcement. Gold increased 0.24% to sell for $1,161.80 per ounce at 8:07 a.m. CET and silver rose 0.57% to go for $17.01 per ounce at 8:09 a.m. CET. Platinum gained 0.21% to sell for $937.50 and palladium edged up 0.07% to go for $730 per ounce at 8:09 a.m. CET. The dollar index fell 0.19% to 100.86 at 8:11 a.m. CET.
