United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson noted on Wednesday that London remains "absolutely committed to get" a trade deal with the European Union if possible.

"I think our [EU] friends know what the UK bottom line is and what people voted for on June 23, 2016," Johnson said at a press conference, underlining that the Brexit vote was about "taking back control."

The departure from the bloc was about "making sure that the UK is able to run its own laws, its own fisheries and so on," according to the prime minister, who also stressed that "that's what we're all working for" in the negotiations.
