5Y to 30Y US Treasury gap largest since 2016

The gap between the United States five year Treasury yield and the 30-year Treasury yield increased to levels last seen in 2016 as results of the 2020 presidential election started to come in.

The five-year bond yield increased by 1.6 basis points to 0.407% at 7:26 pm ET, reaching highs last seen in June. Meanwhile, the yield on the 30-year Treasury surged by 7 basis points to 1.718 at 7:26 pm ET.

Their respective bond futures, which move in the opposite direction were 0.08% and 0.55% in the red, both at 7:17 pm ET.
