Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker unveiled on Wednesday that the carrier reached an agreement with European aircraft manufacturer Airbus over postponing deliveries as travel demand remains crippled by the coronavirus pandemic.

"We have the ability to bring forward the deliveries if there is a rebound in air travel," he noted, adding the airline is still trying to strike a deal with Boeing.

According to Qatar Airways' head, "an aircraft manufacturer needs to oblige customers in difficult times" and the US-based plane maker risks to lose the Middle East carrier for good if it fails to "stand with us [Qatar Airways] in this difficult time."
