Europe closes mixed as COVID-19 stays in focus | ![]() |

European markets finished mixed on Tuesday as investors continued to worry over a potential second wave of the coronavirus pandemic on the continent after Germany and the United Kingdom pointed out the situation could be taking a turn for the worse. Meanwhile, tensions between the United States and China brought additional geopolitical uncertainty. The DAX closed flat as Deutsche Boerse fell 2.21%. The FTSE 100 ended 0.4% in the green as Pearson PLC surged 6.05% and the CAC 40 was down 0.22%, with Stimicroelectronics falling 5.32%. The euro lost 0.23% against the dollar to go for 1.17247 at 5:40 pm CET. However, the pound gained 0.46% compared to the greenback to trade for 1.29408 at the same time. |
