France calls for Airbus to stop lay-offs

Thursday, 09. July 2020 16:19

After Airbus said it plans to lay off around 15,000 of its employees, French Junior Economy Minister Agnes Pannier-Runacher called the company on Thursday to refrain from further job cuts. Today, a few hundred workers went marching from the company’s headquarters to Toulouse-Blagnac airport.

Pannier-Runacher told Radio Classique that "there should be no forced departures, which means everyone should be able to choose and be helped; that is our line."

Last week, the company explained reductions come as a result of lower demand, which has plummeted 40% in recent months due to the coronavirus crisis.
