Europe finishes higher after data

Major stock markets in Europe closed higher on Thursday with investors focused on several important economic data reports that were published today. Eurostat reported the unemployment rate in the Eurozone rose 0.1 percentage points to stand at 7.4% in May, while industrial producer prices in the euro area declined 0.6% in the same period. Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen noted the importance quickly of reaching an agreement on the European recovery package.

The FTSE 100 grew 1.34% at the finish. International Consolidated Airlines Group SA, often abbreviated to IAG, was up 5.47%. The DAX rose 2.84%, with Linde plc jumping 4.41%. The CAC 40 advanced 2.50% as BNP Paribas S.A. climbed 5.85%.

The euro and the pound stood unchanged against the greenback at 5:29 pm ET to sell for 1.12413 and 1.24762 dollars respectively.
