German automotive company Daimler AG said on Tuesday it plans to partner with the Rolls-Royce technology group in order to offer an emission-free alternative as hydrogen to diesel engines for safety-critical facilities. Rolls-Royce plans to sell the green emergency power generators based on the fuel cells from Daimler and Volvo under the MTU brand and it intends to set up several hydrogen charging stations.

As a result of this partnership with Rolls-Royce, Daimler and Volvo intend to sell bigger amounts of their fuel cell systems and therefore reduce the costs for the further development of this otherwise expensive technology.

Andreas Schell, Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce Power Systems Rolls-Royce said: "No other technology offers such high reliability, modular scalability and all the advantages of renewable energies without being dependent on the conventional energy market."
