The investigation into the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) crash will seek to establish whether the jet's engines were damaged in the first attempt to land, resulting in the loss of power during the second landing attempt, Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

According to the initial report into the crash, the pilot reported failure in the landing gear, along with reporting that the engines had failed as well. Marks on the runway are showing that the jet's engines were dragged along it, after what the plane took off again and crashed into the residential building nearby.

The A320 Airbus plane flying from Lahore to Karachi with 99 people on board crashed last week. Only 2 people survived the crash, while 97 were confirmed to have died.
