Thursday, 21. May 2020 10:27

Shares on Wall Street traded lower in premarket on Thursday ahead of weekly jobless claims data. Over the past 8 weeks, over 36 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits.

Minutes released from the Federal Reserve’s April meeting revealed policymakers are concerned about the long-term effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy. "Participants commented that, in addition to weighing heavily on economic activity in the near term, the economic effects of the pandemic created an extraordinary amount of uncertainty and considerable risks to economic activity in the medium term," the minutes said.

The Dow Jones was down 203 points at 4:27 am ET. At the same time, the S&P 500 lost 0.83%, while the Nasdaq 100 fell 0.70%.
