EasyJet plc announced on Thursday it was deferring the delivery of 24 Airbus SE jets set to be delivered over the next three years as it moves to ensure it has sufficient liquidity during the coronavirus-caused crisis.

In addition, the airline said it has 24 operating leases due for renewal in the next 16 months which could be postponed on canceled.

"Our industry is facing unprecedented challenges which require unprecedented action. As we have consistently said, we remain completely focused on improving short term liquidity and reducing expenditure across the business," the company's chief executive Johan Lundgren said in the press release.
