Worldwide COVID-19 cases top half million

The number of confirmed coronavirus infections around the world surpassed 500,000 on Thursday, adding 100,000 recorded cases in just two days.

A total of 22,334 people died from the virus globally, while 121,214 have recovered.

China still ranks first with 81,285 overall cases, followed by the United States, which has just surpassed Italy with 74,982 of confirmed infections.
