German auto maker Daimler announced on Tuesday it will stop most of its production in Europe for two weeks to contain coronavirus spread. The decision to suspend production concerns Daimler’s car, van and commercial vehicle plants in Europe and will be implemented as of this week, Daimler said.

“With these closures, Daimler is helping to protect its workforce, to interrupt chains of infection and to contain the spread of the pandemic,” the company said.

Last month, Daimler said its sales, output and supply chain might be impacted by the spread of coronavirus.
