The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) shared concerns on Thursday that Google’s $2.1 billion bid for fitness trackers company Fitbit Inc. may create privacy risks.

EDPB stated that "the possible further combination and accumulation of sensitive personal data regarding people in Europe by a major tech company could entail a high level of risk to privacy and data protection."

In December, reports suggested that the United States Department of Justice would also launch an investigation into Google's acquisition of Fitbit over the same reason.
