EU launches probe into Google's location tracking

Ireland's Data Protection Commission announced on Tuesday it was starting an investigation into Google LLC's practices of processing of location data.

The regulator said it received a number of complaints from various consumer organizations across the European Union in regards to the tech giant's "processing of location data and the transparency surrounding that processing."

The new investigation adds to several others into the data-related practices of Alphabet Inc.'s subsidiary.
