The World Health Organization (WHO) and Google will join forces to combat coronavirus misinformation, WHO's Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Monday, adding that social media companies Twitter, Facebook, Tencent, and TikTok made efforts to curb spreading of fake news on the infection as well.

"To that end, we have worked with Google to make sure people searching for information about coronavirus see WHO information at the top of their search results," Ghebreyesus asserted.

Previously, the coronavirus death toll in Hubei province in China rose to 350 with over 15,000 cases confirmed worldwide, Chinese state media reported. Meanwhile, the United States decided to declare a national public state of emergency in the country due to a virus outbreak.
